I recently saw the movie “The Warrior”.-
As you may know I’m a reformed fighter. Both in the streets and in the ring for the better part of my youth.
So, YES, this movie resonated with me and my quest for personal improvement more than maybe others.
However, that aside I’ll say that overall this movie was fantastic and I’d like to think I have high standards.
There is one thing that stuck out to me I’d like to share with you today.
In your life and business if you lose track of the Why’s then you are going to get smashed by your competition.
In this movie you had two brothers.
Both had been scarred by an abusive alcoholic Father and rough lives.
Both were entering a “Winner Takes All” 5 million dollar tournament. (yes, i know it all sound cliche and it is…but great movie)
Now let’s talk about why I’m writing this post
Today, you need to get clear on the Why’s in your life.
Just like Brother #1 whom was driven by anger and they Why’s of proving something to his Father and getting money to help support his best friends Wife and son whom he left behind when he died in the war.
Brother #2 was driven for a much higher purpose.
He was about to lose his home and his dignity…
…He was a Father to 2 amazingly beautiful children and a loving wife.
They were the center of his universe and his reason for existing.
His Why! was BIG.
This one reason was the core of his being and everyday his activities were driven to that end.
He was about to lose all of that.
You tell me who won the tournament?
Today I woke up and took a long hard look at my Daughter went outside did some sprints (the best this old fat man could do right now), ate a healthy meal, did some breathing, and then sat down and started to work.
Focused on my Why’s I feel much better then usual.
Sometimes we tend to float through our days not connecting with what really matters to us.
“Out of Site, Out of Mind…”
So today begin to focus on your Why’s and I’ll bet your productivity and focus increases at a rate matching or exceeding your connection the Why’s.
So what are your why’s?
Not just your personal Why’s….But…
Your Business Why’s? Why do you do what you do?
